What We Do — Safari Doctors

What We Do

One Health, delivered as one service — human, animal and environmental health in a single visit.

Five programmes that need each other

Each can be funded and judged on its own. Run together they close a loop: demand, delivery, entitlement, revenue, more demand.

01

Youth Health Ambassadors

Peer educators and service connectors in schools and villages. They generate the demand and carry the referral.

Open

02

Women’s Voices & Advocacy

Organised women’s groups win the county budget lines and the social permission that keep the rest possible.

Open

03

Mobile Outreach

Twelve outreaches a year by boat, road and air. The platform every other programme stands on.

Open

04

Safari Vets

Animal health as household economics and zoonotic defence — and the door into households that would not otherwise open.

Open

05

Medical Centres

Facility-based care, the laboratory, and the Shungwaya joint venture: continuity, and earned revenue.

The loop

What only the whole delivers

Remove any one and the loop opens. That is the argument for funding the system rather than a slice of it.

Where the work happens

What each part costs

One unit per programme, taken from our own budgets at a planning rate of USD 1 = KES 129.

A funder can take any single row and judge it on its own. Taken together the rows are the system: demand created, care delivered, entitlement won, revenue earned, demand created again. This is the whole ask, broken into the pieces it is actually made of.

ProgrammeOne unitWhat the unit isWhat it returns
Youth Health Ambassadors$78 One ambassador’s stipend, one month Peer sessions, household visits, every contact logged in the Community Health Toolkit
Women’s Voices & Advocacy$350 One women’s group through a budget cycle A costed brief in front of a county assembly, argued by the women it is for
Mobile Outreach$5,800 One full monthly outreach About 1,700 contacts and 2,400 conditions treated, at the H1 2026 rate
Safari Vets$2,100 One vaccination and treatment camp A settlement’s herd protected — and the household’s ability to pay for care
Medical Centres$2,325 One youth-friendly service point, equipped Somewhere a referral can actually go, inside a public facility
$640kCAD, matched 1:1

The match

Grand Challenges Canada matches every dollar donated, dollar for dollar, while the CAD 640,000 match runs. A $78 ambassador becomes two.

The scale behind it

2026–2027 is our first million-dollar annual budget. The rows above are how that number is built, and how any part of it can be funded alone.

Every row above doubles while the match lasts. See ways to give
